Chairmans Chat

Welcome to the home page of the Somerset And Wiltshire Land Rover Club.

Spill Kits. You will need one to take part in our events from 01 January 2011. If you would like to buy one localy at a fair price, then please contact our vice chairman who will be able to sort you out. Limited amounts, so first come, first served. His E-Mail address can be found at this web site.

Our next Club meeting is on the 12 September 2010 at Foxham, Wiltshire. Please be sure to present all vehicles washed and cleaned for the scrutineers to look over them. Scrutineering will finish at 09.45 so please arrive in plenty of time. Please remember to keep your speed down to 10mph when on site.

With immediate effect, if you have children old enough to drive in our home TYRO competitions they will be able to do so without being joined as new members. If you hold a joint membership with the Club this will include your children. This will also waiver the £2.00 fee for a passenger if they are old enough to sit in on the RTV competition

We need volunteers to clerk some of our forthcoming meetings. George has listed them so please come forward. We do not want to be put in a position of nominating people to do this. Think of the 10 points.

The club magazine editor is Mr Steve O'Brien and all being well the mag will be relaunched shortly. He has a lot of good ideas, if you have any articles that you feel may be of interest to us all, please give them to a committee member so we can pass them on or send them to Steve.

If for whatever reason you have something that belongs to the club please return it to a committee member so that the equipment officer can list what we have and what we need before we purchase new stuff. (No questions asked.) Please bring it to the next Club meeting.

If you have any pictures that you feel are worthy for next years (2011) calendar print, then please find them out and put them forward for selection to any committee member.

The next committee meeting will be on Thursday 09th September 2010 at the Old Down Inn, Emborough. 8pm start.

Thanks to all who attended the Wookey meeting. The Diesel fuel was auctioned off with all 4 lots sold. My thanks again to the donor. A good sum of money was raised for our charity and we should have a grand total in time for our next meeting.

Our next Club meeting is on the 08 August 2010 at Goosemoor.Please be sure to present all vehicles washed and cleaned for the scrutineers to look over them. Scrutineering will finish at 09.45 so please arrive in pleanty of time

A big thank you to Pete + Jane for sorting out our stand at the Land Rover World Show. I understand that you both did a great job and that the Club was well represented. Thanks also to all those who took the time to get your vehicles ready for display, and not forgetting those who helped out over the week end on the stand etc. You all deserve a good pat on the back.

If you have any pictures that you feel are worthy for next years (2011) calendar print, then please find them out and put them forward for selection.

The next committee meeting will be on Thursday 09th September 2010 at the Old Down Inn, Emborough. 8pm start.

	CHAIRMANS CHAT 

	_Welcome to the home page of the Somerset And Wiltshire Land Rover Club._ 

	Thanks to all who attended the Wookey meeting. The Diesel fuel was auctioned off with
all 4 lots sold. My thanks again to the donor. A good sum of money was raised for our
charity and we should have a grand total in time for our next meeting.  

	


	Our next Club meeting is on the 08 August 2010 at Goosemoor.Please be sure to present
all vehicles washed and cleaned for the scrutineers to look over them. Scrutineering will
finish at 09.45 so please arrive in pleanty of time 

	With immediate effect, if you have children old enough to drive in our home TYRO
competitions they will be able to do so without being joined as new members. If you hold
a joint membership with the Club this will include your children. This will also waiver
the £2.00 fee for a passenger if they are old enough to sit in on the RTV competition  

	We need volunteers to clerk some of our forthcoming meetings. George has listed them so
please come forward. We do not want to be put in a position of nominating people to do
this. Think of the 10 points.  

	The club magazine editor is Mr Steve O'Brien and all being well the mag will be
relaunched shortly. He has a lot of good ideas, if you have any articles that you feel
may be of interest to us all, please give them to a committee member so we can pass them
on or send them to Steve.  

	If for whatever reason you have something that belongs to the club please return it to a
committee member so that the equipment officer can list what we have and what we need
before we purchase new stuff.  (No questions asked.) Please bring it to the next Club
meeting. 

	A big thank you to Pete + Jane for sorting out our stand at the Land Rover World Show. I
understand that you both did a great job and that the Club was well represented. Thanks
also to all those who took the time to get your vehicles ready for display, and not
forgetting those who helped out over the week end on the stand etc. You all deserve a
good pat on the back. 

	If you have any pictures that you feel are worthy for next years (2011) calendar print,
then please find them out and put them forward for selection. 

	The next committee meeting will be on Thursday 09th September 2010 at the Old Down Inn,
Emborough. 8pm start.

2010 Mendip Challenge (by George Swalwell, published Wednesday, 06 January 2010 06:49)

Next years challenge will be held over the 2nd weekend of October (9/10th), RTV Saturday, CCV Sunday at Lambs Leer, Somerset. As usual, a raffle will be held after both RTV and CCV with all profits going to Help for Heroes.

Places go early, so please get your application form in as soon as possible.

Marshals are also required, please email one of our Competition Secretary's (RTV or CCV) to be added to the list.

Camping will be available on site, with toilets and a burger van.

Once again, it is hoped to book somewhere to eat on the Saturday night for approximately 60, so we can all get together to dine, discuss the days events and generally have a good time (transport will be provided, for a minimal fee).

There will be a raffle prior to prize giving each day, with all proceeds going to Help for Heroes.

Also available will be our Mendip Challenge T-Shirts (£10), green T-Shirt with yellow writing (Mendip Challenge 2010 and just plain Mendip Challenge), these will be available from the Rally Reception/Signing On Tents on a first come first serve basis.
